Badmaash Company ---> Movie Review

I went to see this movie with no expectations coz the promos didn't quite interest me but non the less I had nothing much to do after office so I was like what the heck! So yeah lemme see how best I can describe this one and honestly I think you will only like the movie if you see the first half and then walk out because in the second half it goes completely haywire.

Trust me after the first half finished I messaged one of my friends on my blackberry asking her to go and see the movie now but at the end my opinion had completely changed because the director absolutely destroyed the story and made it completely boring and over dramatic and yeah he even had Michael Jackson in the movie (A fake one ofcourse). So yeah it was a good concept and a cool story about four friends who want to get rich in life but what eventually became of the movie is really sad.

Anyways like I said you will enjoy the first half and get really bored and annoyed in the second, if this sounds like something you want to do then be my guest!

Housefull ---> Movie Review

Even before the movie had released the director Sajid Khan had said that this will be the biggest blockbuster of the year 2010 and will even go on to break the collections of '3 Idiots'.Well I don't really think that might happen but having said that this is a fun movie to watch if you leave your brains out of the cinema hall and go for it.

Its not a laugh-riot but more of a situational comedy and a complete family entertainer, it does manage to hold your attention just enough to keep you entertained as long as you don't try to logically analyze every scene and if your that kind of a person than i suggest you do something else this weekend. All the actors and actresses have performed very well with Akshay Kumar playing the part of the loser with complete ease and Ritesh D has complimented him very well all the way and Arjun Rampal has more of a serious role in the movie but packs a good punch performing it.The girls (Lara, Deepika and Jiah) are all very hot and compliment each other very well but Jiah Khan does not have as much of screen time as the other 2 girls but fairs quite well, Boman Irani I felt was VERY loud and so was Chunkey Pandey these two characters I did not like at all.

So if you want to have some mindless fun and see a typical bollywood masala entertainer I suggest go and watch this one and you will have super fun but again if you are the logical viewer then stay away!!

Phoonk 2 ---> Movie Review

The first installment was a pathetic effort which makes me wonder why I even took the time to watch the second installment, but I did and it is the most horrible attempt ever to make a horror flick. There is no storyline and the horror element seems more like comedy!! no serious I am not being over critical or something trust me I went into the cinema wanting to get scared and spooked out but when the movie actually finished I couldn't help wonder why did the director even bother calling it a horror movie.

Ok to be fair there are some scenes which surprise you and make you jump out of the seat but like I said a few scenes maybe just one if I can remember and that is not enough to qualify for a horror movie ofcourse, I mean in a genre like this even if the storyline is a bit patchy and has loop-holes it doesn't matter as long as the horror element is good but with Phoonk 2 that is not the case. In my opinion the director showed the ghost has almost human and there was no super-natural element to it which destroyed the movie, you cannot make your ghost feel like a living human period!!

So all in all I think Ram Gopal Verma should stop making such movies and also stop giving other director's an opportunity to make them and just stick to what he does best which is to make dark under-world gangster type flicks...

Karthik calling Karthik - Movie Review

When Farhan Akhtar decided to not only act in the movie but even co-produce it your expectations are very high because he is one film-maker who does not cut corners and maintains that storyline is the only hero of the project, so when he decided to come out with "KCK" I wanted to see how the movie would pan out.

KCR in my thinking is a "OK types" thriller but the core concept of who is calling Karthik is not that believable, I am certainly not going to give away the suspense but don't expect this to be a mind-blowing experience is what I am trying to say. The movie again is good in parts while there are sequences where you are completely engrossed in the flick but at times you tend to lose interest in what is actually going on. The screenplay itself is not that effective and sometimes even the simplest things are not treated as real. (example: In one scene Farhan and Deepika are so drunk that they cannot make sense of what is going on but after a few minutes they break into a long emotional monologue...) and trust me for the first 10-15 minutes you will be super bored until Karthik gets that "call", its only after that you want to find out how this can actually happen but at the end when they reveal the fact about the call you are not impressed and it leaves you thinking "what the $%^&!!"

Anyways i really liked some of the witty lines in the movie and Farhan Akhtar as a complete loser then as a smart-ass and again back to a loser plays his part really well and so does Deepika but I honestly expected a lot more drama which this movie lacks..

My Name is Khan - Movie Review

Alright so much hype surrounding this movie it finally released today and after the super-hit "Om Shanti Om" this is SRK'S first solo release and after 7 odd years his pairing with Kajol, so was it worth a trip to the cinemas? Well to answer that it certainly was atleast to me. I loved the movie and the fact that it was so different from all the Karan Johar movies of the past, plus the acting by the lead actors made the movie even better.

Shah Rukh as Rizwan was completely mind-blasting and he acted the part of an autistic man to the T without being irritating and going over the top with his acting, and kajol was excellent even though she does selected roles now she manages to entertain yuo whenever she comes on screen, plus the music was very nice too which made the entire experience fun.

This will probably go down as one of his better performances and will be remembered for quite sometime and also as I said earlier its nice to see Karan Johar breaking out of his usual song and dance routine with giant sets and colorful clothing lines which we see on screen.

So all in all a fun and an entertaining flick...

Rann - Movie Review

Its had been quite something since I last saw a Ram Gopal Verma directed movie, I think the last one which I saw was "Sarkar II" which I found pretty nice so his present offering which was to un-cover the media or so to say was quite intriguing and I wanted to see how would someone like RGV approach the subject.

Its fair to say that this movie was quite an eye opener as to what lengths the media would go to "create" news not just report it. The movie is ofcourse a work of fiction but what lies beneath is the scary truth of what the reality actually is and what goes on behind the scenes and how does the news actually make in inside your TV room, quite an engaging storyline I should say.

RGV has always been known to make different kind of cinema so much so that sometimes its so different that we all hate him for even attempting to do it (remember the re-make of Sholay..LOL) but with this movie he manages to hit the nail on its head and come up with something very engaging and fun to watch. Even though Amitabh B was promoted as being the main hero of this movie I would say that the movie belonged to all the characters who were a part of it and no one stole the limelight because the storyline was such that no one could do that.

Watch this one and the word "NEWS" just might change forever...

Ishqiya - Movie Review

I went for this movie only because the name Vishal Bhardwaj was associated with it even though he was a producer and the music composer in this one I knew he will make something fun and intelligent with a gripping storyline and it was exactly what I expected.

The best part about the movie was its language and that the characters spoke the common man's lingo without any filmy influence which we have come to hear in all our movies, for a fist time director Abhishek Chaubhey has given us a pretty slick movie with some interesting characters and sub-plots. Both the mail male leads Arshad and Nasser were fun and equally mean on screen and along with the hot Vidya Balan they all made quite an interesting watch on the big screen.

So here is more power to Abhishek and the Vishal B combo and hope they come out with more realistic movies just or even better than this one!!

Veer - Movie Review

I knew even before watching this movie that it would suck and will be one of the most horrible flicks I will see this year but I still went for it shamelessly all because of Salman Khan coz according to me he is the real superstar of Indian cinema, but not even he could save this movie from going down the drain. Its stupid not fun and completely dated.

The story and the dialogues look like they were taken from an ancient book of secrets or something and the screenplay was so screwed up! and yeah I dont even know how this movie ends coz I walked out towards the end so even if you are a die hard Salman Khan fan dont watch this one coz its really not worth the time and money..

3 Idiots - Movie Review

Just came back from this movie and all I can think about is when can I go back and see it all over again!! what a awesome awesome movie, its fun young and absolutely mind-blasting. I knew this movie would be nice but this one has exceeded my expectation to no limit, even though I am not such a huge fan of Aamir Khan but I certainly admire whatever he does and in this movie he has surpassed all expectations.

Raju Hirani according to me is the real hero of this film, I mean to come up with such an engaging screenplay is so difficult and the man has almost perfected the art of making such movies if you go by his track record, from now even if he doesn't promote any of his movies i will be the first one to buy that ticket and watch it!!

The performances and the dialogues plus the soundtrack were all so delightfull to watch and not even for a second you are bored or dis-interested with what his happening on screen, Aamir was the pick of the actors because he had the best role and the best lines but Sharman, Maddy and Kareena also performed well and Boman Irani as the college dean was mean and fun and not to mention Chatur this guy is indeed a great find and his performance was simply too good!!

On the whole hats off to the entire unit for making such wonderful and a timeless classic!! Aal izz well!!

Paa - Movie Review

I have been told that "Cheeni Kam" which was the last movie R.Balki had made was pretty nice but I still haven't seen it but anyways coming to "Paa" it is a fab movie withsome wonderful acting by the entire cast and needless to say Amitabh Bachchan steals the show completely.

The thing I liked about this movie was that they even thought the main character was suffering from a fatal disease they did not make it out to be sad and a depresiing movie where everyone is feeling sad for the child and consoling his mother, but it was just the opposite, he was fun cheerful and completely full of energy and that angle worked for me and almost everyone who saw this movie.I never expected this movie to be so funny and humorous and in almost all the scenes Amitabh is present are beautifully shot.

Vidya Balan who I think is really hot has performed and acted her role out wonderfully and so has Abhishek as the young and dynamic politician and kudos to Balki for coming up with a serious subject like this and making it fun and a joy to watch. So if you are reading this and thinking about whether to see the movie or not think no more and watch it now and for all those of you who have already seen it...time for a re-run!!
