I recently encountered an issue where my Information Store service on the Exchange 2010 server was stuck in a starting state and I could see the below error in the event logs
"Unable to initialize the Information Store service because the clocks on the client and server are skewed. This may be caused by a time change either on the client or on the server and may require a restart of that computer"
When I checked the time on my Exchange 2010 server it was indeed not in sync with my DC and the time zone was also in-correct, so I corrected that and I had to run the below command to force it to sync its time with my domain controller and then restart the "AD Topology Service"
- Make sure to make time zone and the time is correct and it matches your domain controller
- Open Powershell with admin rights and run the command: net time \\<FQDN of the dc> /set
- Restart the AD Topology service
- Then SMILE!
